JOB DESCRIPTION
The Child Nutrition (CN) Assistant Director of Operations, underthe direction ofthe CN Director, is responsible for all operational functions of the
Child Nutrition Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(Only those persons who meet the minimum qualifications as posted should apply)
• Bachelor’s degree with academic major in foods and nutrition, dietetics, home economics, or food service management, nutrition
education, culinary arts, business, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of operational leadership experience in a large business environment, preferably in a School District Child
Nutrition Department.
• Bilingual preferred.
• External candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by
employee.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret and implement Federal, State and District policies, rules, and regulations related to the
compliant administration of School Child Nutrition Programs.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and District policies, rules, and regulationsrelated to employment practices.
• Advanced skill set in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
• Ability to manage a budget.
• Ability to evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
• Strong leadership and team building skills.
• Ability to prioritize, manage and respond to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in presenting or providing training in a small or large group setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Direct, manage and support all operational related Child Nutrition Department activities.
2. Establish and maintain working relationships with executive management, campus & department leaders, elected officials, district
employees, other districts, government agencies, outside organizations, and the general public.
3. Assist in evaluation of reports and results of the department in relation to established goals.
4. Evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual labor and financial reports and adjust as needed.
5. Develop and implement new concepts, policies, and procedures for efficiency of operations.
6. Support training for all levels of Child Nutrition department employees.
7. Support high quality menus, student participation and nutrition outreach programs.
8. Support hiring, staffing and retention of employees.
9. Support inventory and warehouse operations.
10. Assist planning for large equipment purchasing and replacement.
11. Provide assessment and guidance regarding employee disciplinary activity, including dispute resolution coordination.
12. Perform other duties assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the
job. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
MINIMUM SALARY: $75,224 TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT: Full-Time, Exempt
MAXIMUM SALARY: $104,954 PAY GRADE: BN06 MINIMUM WORK DAYS: 226
