PRIMARY PURPOSE: Promotes participation in Denton ISD Child Nutrition Programs, assists in promoting health and nutrition through nutrition education, and plans and implements menus in accordance with USDA/TDA guidelines for all school campuses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or Institutional Management required.
- Registered Dietitian preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ management experience in USDA Child Nutrition
programs preferred.
- Current Serv Safe Food Protection Manager Certification or approved alterna
- SNS certification preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Food Service Operations
- Plans, organizes, directs, and manages district’s cafeteria and food service programs.
- Develops menus that meet established nutritional requirements for students.
- Coordinates with and oversees the District Chef to ensure recipes and menu items meet student desires and nutritional guidelines.
- Performs nutrient and menu analysis and manages digital software.
- Reviews food production and serving methods to ensure they meet the planned menu, follow recipes, maintain department procedures, and meet the timely delivery of food to the students and staff.
- Analyzes productivity measures to evaluate customer service satisfaction
- Works cooperatively with campus administration to create meal schedules and processes.
- Coordinates, develops, and directs special diet modifications and menus that meet federal guidelines to accommodate students with special dietary needs.
- Participates on the District Student Health Advisory Committee and assists with implementation of District Wellness Policy.
- Develops and maintains written department procedures for all food service operations.
- Assists with development of a cost-effective and efficient system of procurement of all food meeting federal procurement and Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards.
- Assists with oversight of HAACP and Food Safety protocols.
Personnel Management
- Plans and directs inventory and stock control program for equipment and suppli
- Assists with development of, reviews, and revises job descriptions in food service department.

Communication
- Frequent electronic and verbal communication with food distributor and food representatives to ensure procurement and delivery of food and items needed.
- Utilizes Denton ISD Child Nutrition’s social media platforms to disseminate promotions, Child Nutrition educational initiatives, and menu updates.
- Assists and supports the efforts of all Child Nutrition staff with a positive attitude.
- Encourages positive morale among staff and promotes team effort within each school and within the department.
Professional Growth and Development
- Remain current with local, state, and federal policies
- Attend workshops/seminars as assigned to maintain and exceed current knowledge and met continuing education requirements.
- Participate in staff development for the Child Nutrition Department.
